Message from Superintendent Dr. Diffenbaugh

PKDiffenbaugh.jpg

Dear Monterey Peninsula Unified School District Community,

I am incredibly honored to serve as Superintendent of Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, and I look forward to working together with you to ensure that every school and every student thrives.  I grew up not too far from the Monterey Peninsula in Watsonville. I know first-hand the rich history and cultures of the communities that make up the Central Coast and am excited to come back home with my family and raise my children on the Monterey Peninsula. As I continue to learn about our district, I am inspired by your passion for our schools. During my conversation with parents, community members, and staff, it is clear to me that we share a deep belief in the power of education to transform the lives of children, and I am confident that together we can make this belief a reality for all students.

In an effort to learn more about MPUSD's strengths, its persistent challenges, and to build our shared vision for the future together, I will begin my tenure as superintendent with a structured entry plan. The purpose of my entry plan is to interact with a broad variety of stakeholders and community leaders to hear diverse perspectives, learn, and make informed decisions that will enable Monterey Peninsula Unified School District to reach new levels of success. The plan will provide the opportunity for us to begin working together purposefully and it allows me to hit the ground learning. This plan serves as a beginning: a beginning of our partnership and a beginning set of actions, which will evolve and expand with your input and our learning.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to engage with me during this entry process and beyond. You have my commitment to work effectively and urgently on behalf of the students and families of the Monterey Peninsula.

Cafeteria Balance Scam Calls

Dear MPUSD Families,

It has come to our attention that some of you may have received a phone call from someone claiming to represent the District's cafeteria program. Their message states that you owe money to your school's cafeteria and to immediately pay by credit card or check.  This request is not coming from the School District. These calls are a scam.  We are requesting you ignore the call. This has been reported to the Marina Police.

Estimado MPUSD familias,
