Measure P Dollars at Work

On November 2, 2010, voters in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District overwhelmingly voted 71.55% to approve a $110 million school bond proposition to improve neighborhood elementary, middle and high schools. Specifically, the bond proposition called for:

  • Replacing and repairing aging heating, plumbing and wiring
  • Installing educational classroom technology
  • Improving utility and energy efficiency to save money for academic programs
  • Improving school/student safety
  • Acquiring, repairing, constructing and equiping school sites and classrooms

The bond cost was approximately $30 per $100,000 of assessed property value, or $150 for a home worth $500,000.
