Dress Code
In order to promote and maintain a school climate and environment that minimizes distractions and supports learning, it is important that attention to appropriate dress is strictly adhered to. Please be aware of the following guidelines:

  • Clothing, jewelry, accessories or notebooks shall be free of writing, pictures or any other insignia which is obscene, crude, vulgar, profane or sexually suggestive or which advocates racial, ethnic or religious prejudice or the use of drugs, alcohol or tobacco.
  • Clothing that exposes any portion of the torso or upper thighs such as see-through garments, mini-skirts, or mini-dresses, halters, backless dresses, tube tops or tank tops or shirts, bare midriff outfits, or shirts or blouses tied at the midriff shall not be worn.
  • Shoes shall be worn at all times. Shoes need to be closed toe and heel so as to protect the entire foot. For safety reasons flip-flops, sandals, slippers and wheelie shoes are not allowed. Shoes need to be appropriately tied at all times.
  • Hats, caps, or other head coverings and sunglasses shall not be worn in the classroom, library, or cafeteria (except as required for religious, health or safety purposes and approved by the principal).
  • Pants shall be worn so that the waistband is worn at the waist and not below the waist. The size of the pants shall be appropriate to the student’s body size and shall not be unduly “oversized” or unduly “form fitting.” Belts are optional and if worn must be of appropriate size and fastened in a customary manner.
  • Face and body make-up, including lipstick, eye makeup, blush and glitter is not permitted. Only natural hair colors are allowed.

Not every situation can be covered in the dress code guidelines. Therefore, school administration has the right to determine whether any attire or grooming is disruptive or detrimental to the learning process. Violation of dress code may lead to disciplinary actions.
