Memory Support

This three-times a week day program is specially designed to offer socialization and mental & physical stimulation to frail elderly and individuals with memory loss or Alzheimer’s. Activities include arts and crafts, physical fitness, music, and reminiscing. Classes are taught through the Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC).

Pre-registration is required. For information about class fees, call 899-7178.

Physical Rehabilitation

This twice a week day program is designed for individuals who are post-stroke, coping with Parkinson’s disease, osteoporosis or rheumatoid arthritis. Instruction focuses on mobility, self-care, expressive language, and tools for independent living. Individuals will benefit from the series of exercises led by occupational and physical therapists that increase range of motion, strength, and balance.

This program has been taught through the Stroke Handicapped Adult Rehabilitation Education (SHARE) for the last 26 years, in collaboration with the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA).

Savvy Caregiver

This class is designed specifically to give family caregivers increased confidence and skills. You will learn how to manage daily life with a memory impaired person, find and accept help with caregiving tasks, and take care of yourself. To register call 647-9890 by Fri, February 15.
Class size is limited to 15.

Call the Alzheimers Association at 647-9890 to pre-register.

 


Convalescent, Assisted Living, Mental Health Support

Classes are available to older adults in skilled nursing, assisted living, and mental health facilities throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Classes include: arts & crafts, cooking, current events, gardening, literature, music, physical fitness, reminiscing, and socialization. Classes are held at the following locations:
