Community Partnerships for Success

Monterey Adult School can offer your business or non-profit organization customized training and classes to meet the needs of your employees. We offer training in Excel, Microsoft Word, Basic Computing or English as a Second Language. Our staff is fully credentialed and technically trained, and we are ready to develop classes just for you.

We would like to thank the Embassy Suites and the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) for allowing us to provide English as a Second Language classes to their employees in the work place. It is through partnerships such as these that our communities improve.


Adult Basic Education

Brush up on your reading, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and mathematics. Once you master the basic skills, you can move on to study High School Diploma or G.E.D.

High School Diploma

Are you ready to earn your high school diploma? Begin by meeting with a counselor and attending an orientation class. Students may receive credit toward the 200 required units for previous high school and college classes, work, and military experience. You must pass the CAHSEE, California High School Exit Exam, and CAHSEE prep classes may be required.

General Educational Development (G.E.D.)

English and Spanish
If you don’t have the time to complete the credits you need for your high school diploma, the GED may be for you. This test is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma by employers, the military, and most colleges. Students attend an orientation class, take a reading/math test to assess skill levels, and enroll in the GED Preparation class. Students are required to attend at least 12 hours of class instruction before becoming eligible to take the official test. Many students will need additional help with workbooks and computer coursework.

DESARROLLO EDUCACIONAL GENERAL (G.E.D.)

Si usted no tiene tiempo para completar los creditos necesarios para su diploma de escuela secundaria, el G.E.D. es para usted. Este exámen es reconocido como equivalente al diploma de preparatoria por los patrones, el servicio militar, y casi todos los colegios. Los estudiantes tienen una orientación de la clase, toman una prueba de lectura y matemáticas para asesorar su nivel de habilidad, e inscribirse en la clase de preparación de G.E.D. Se tiene que asistir cuando menos 12 horas a la clase para ser elegible de tomar la prueba oficial. Muchos estudiantes necesitan ayuda con los libros de trabajo y el trabajo que se hace en la computadora.

Citizenship

In a relaxed setting, learn about the United States government and citizens’ rights and responsibilities so you are ready to take the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Citizenship test. You can take this class if you are a legal resident of the United States and have an Alien Registration card.

Ciudadanía

En un ambiente relajado, aprenda a cerca del gobierno de los Estados Unidos y los derechos y responsabilidades del ciudadano para que esté listo(a) a tomar el exámen de ciudadanía del Servicio de Migración y Naturalización (INS).

Usted puede tomar esta clase si es residente legal de los Estados Unidos y
tiene su tarjeta de registro como extranjero.

English as a Second Language (E.S.L.)

These classes are for students who want to learn to speak, write, and read English. Cabrillo Family Resource Center offers classes of different language levels according to student’s needs. Classes are from beginner to advanced levels. Del Monte School and Marina del Mar School classes are multi-level. Students will register, go through an orientation class, and take an assessment test before being placed in an ESL class.

Childcare may be available at Cabrillo Family Resource Center, Del Monte School, and Marina del Mar School for children from 6 months to 5 years old in the mornings, and 6 months to 8 years old in the evenings.

Inglés como Segundo Idioma (E.S.L.)

Estas clases son para estudiantes que quieren aprender hablar, escribir, y leer Inglés. En Cabrillo Family Resource Center se ofrecen clases de Inglés
desde el nivel de principiante hasta el avanzado, de acuerdo con la
necesidad del estudiante.
En las Escuelas Del Monte y Marina del Mar las clases son de multi-nivel. Para matricularse, los estudiantes asisten a una orientación donde se les hace una prueba para evaluar su habilidad y así se colocan en la clase adecuada.

En Cabrillo Family Resource Center, y en las Escuelas Del Monte y Marina del Mar se ofrece cuidado de niños de 6 meses a 5 años de edad por la mañana y
de 6 meses a 8 años de edad por la noche.

Master the sounds of the English language! All skill levels welcome!
Come to this class to practice sounds and spelling through various speaking,
listening, and reading activities.

Todos son bienvenidos no importa que nivel de habilidad tengan!
Esta clase es para estudiantes que necesitan ayuda adicional en aprender la pronunciación correcta en Inglés. Se practica el sonido y ortografía por medio de varias actividades de hablar, oir, leér y escribir.

Distance Learning

                                            

This program is specially designed for students who cannot come to class or prefer to study independently. Students will study using Videos/DVDs and Workbooks, Laptops, or online programs. All materials can be checked out and used for study in your own home and at your own pace.
There will be required weekly assignments.

  • Real Estate / Practice / Escrow:

          Original salesperson examination applications are required to submit evidence of completion of
          a three-semester unit college level course or quarter-unit course equivalent in real estate
          principles, real estate practice and one additional course from a selection of broker level
          equivalent courses. Monterey Adult School provides a quick and effective way to comply with the
          new California Department of Real Estate salesperson educational requirements via Distance
          Learning. Each class is a 3-semester unit, 45-hour equivalent course.
          Students may enroll at any time and complete them sequentially in the time normally required for
          one traditional classroom course.
          No concurrent enrollment. Each class requires a minimum of three-weeks to complete.

          The course fee includes enrollment and textbook. Assignments include quizzes and final
           examination with a passing grade of 70%.

           Registration is available on-line.

                                   Real Estate Escrow $130
                                   Total enrolled individually $390
                                   Special price, enroll in all three $350
